About Heidi Schempp Fournier....

Heidi teaches communications courses across a number of programs at Olds College. She has a passion for technology, especially the use of social media to create discussions and dialogue.  Heidi has taught for the last nine years at various post-secondaries across Alberta. She holds a Masters of Distance Education through Athabasca University, a Bachelor of Education from the University of Alberta, and is currently working on her PhD in Management with a specialization in Information Systems Management at Walden University.

Heidi has run her own blog for a number of years. She firmly believes that social media tools such as blogs, podcasts, Facebook, Twitter, etc. can help companies market and sell their products more effectively. These technologies can also create opportunities for transparency around products and services.

As Heidi spends a great deal of time online she is aware that there are a growing number of people who are more likely to reach for Google then they would for the yellow pages to find information. Because of this, businesses require a web presence that can answer customers’ questions once they arrive. Heidi wants her businesses to learn how to harness these technologies to solve real world problems.
